Week notes - w/c Feb 1
February 2021 – it seems as good a time as any for a little experiment. Also, I’ve been on Twitter a fair bit this last week and I keep finding great companies whose social feeds are dormant. No criticism is intended – there’s a lot going on in all our worlds right now – it just got me thinking. Are they there? Are they ok? What are they up to?
Here at FathomXP, we’re still here. And we’re still working. Here’s what we’ve been focusing on this week.
Research programme
We’ve coming to the end of our research project looking at what our clients are doing to sustain and create engagement with their people while they’re remote. There’s some interesting stuff coming out of it – lessons we’ve already started to incorporate into the design of a new virtual learning programme we’re working on. We’re hoping to bring this research to life for you all mid-Feb.
Client work
We’ve kicked off the design phase of a fascinating new learning programme for a global FMCG company. For mid to senior level managers, this was previously a high-end, deeply experiential and rewarding two-week in-person experience in a glorious European location. Our challenge is to recreate that emotional experience, to not just land the learning, but to connect these ambitious and hardworking people from around the world. We need to connect them to the learning, the purpose of the organisation, and to each other. This face-to-face programme usually helps to build lifelong friendships. We’re aiming to achieve the same in a virtual setting. We’ll be sharing our learnings as we go.
Charlotte and Lorne have also been completing an innovation programme with a charity client. More on this to follow.
And we’ve been lucky enough to be speaking with another global organisation about their cultural transformation to support their values roll-out.
Content
If you haven’t yet checked out our new podcast with our partners over at PeopleLab, do give it a listen. You can find The Reset Show on all podcast platforms, including here on iTunes. Our latest show with Adam Gibson, author of Agile Workforce Planning, explores the idea of people and planning in a pandemic. My post on agile workforce planning is over on the PeopleLab blog. Or check out my blog on data, insights, people and culture.
How to connect with us
Next month I will be co-hosting a workshop looking at bringing design thinking to internal comms. Why not sign up and join us - limited number of free places for NHS and third sector.
That’s it for this week’s notes. In true prototyping fashion, I’m now pondering what I’m seeking to learn from this experiment (although, to be fair, I should have started there). Thanks for reading.
